Funding for project to advance worker rights in the country of Georgia
available from the US Labor Department
WASHINGTON The U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of International Labor Affairs today announced a $750,000 competitive solicitation for a project to strengthen respect for worker rights in the country of Georgia. The project will advance worker rights primarily through activities to improve the ability of worker organizations to engage effectively with the government and employers.
In particular, the project will seek to improve worker organizations’ capacity for outreach and training for members regarding Georgian labor law and enforcement, with a focus on rights related to occupational safety and health. It will also increase worker organizations’ effectiveness in representing workers in collective bargaining, dispute resolution, legal proceedings, and dialogue with the government and employers.
Eligible applicants include any commercial, international, educational or nonprofit organization(s), including any faith-based, community-based or public international organization(s), capable of successfully implementing the activities outlined in the solicitation.
Applications must be submitted in English by September 30, 2014, at 5 p.m. EDT electronically via http://www.grants.gov or in hard copy to the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration,
